I also have a TC1100 and I think the problem you have encountered is that the SD slot on the TC1100 is not SDIO so it only supports sizes up to 512 MB. The Secure Digital slot is not SDIO and it only supports cards up to 512mb. This is my biggest disappointment since SD cards with much higher capacity exist (even HPs iPAQ will accept a 1gb SD card), and SDIO is becoming more common.
