The diagonal of a screen is the hypoteneuse of a right triangle, which is the longest side of that triangle. A screen with a 4.5" diagonal cannot be 5" wide. Using the 3-4-5 right triangle model, a screen with a 4.5" diagonal would have dimensions of 3.6" x 2.7" - right in line with James' measurements.
